How to Survive a Tree Falling on You - Track #8

How to Survive a Tree Falling on You - Track #8

I heard this song for the first time since the accident.

When I first hear it, it evoked a calm that I longed for. I imagined being able to slow down. I imagined not having this non-stop-go-go-go-what’s-next energy. I imagined being a chill I could only dream of.

And then I heard it today and smiled.

I smiled because I finally got that calm.

After being forced to the ground by a tree. After being forced to lay there for help. After being forced to lay on a table while a dozen doctors hurried around be. After being forced to lay in a hospital bed for two weeks. After being forced to be in a wheelchair fo two months. Forced to only live on the first floor of my home. Forced to only leave the house with the help of my friends. Forced to walk slowly when I could finally walk. Forced to take my time with…well…everything.

After all that, I could finally listen to this song and smile.

Because although I plan on revving back up to my original speed when I’m fully healed, I know I’ve finally learned how to calm down.
